This year is no different with the inclusion of a number of rising stars including Arkist, Bondax, Greymatter, Charlie Banks and Zoo Look all being tipped for big, big things in 2012/13.

However, we wanted to open the doors to all the young and aspiring Student DJ’s and producers out there. With this in mind we are programming a whole day of music from the best up and coming talent the UK has to offer via a student DJ competition with the following prizes up for grabs...

David and Seth have very kindly put together an exceptional video captured over the course of last years festival, it's soundtracked by the Incredible Matanza, and will hopefully bring back some nostalgic tingles!

On another note, we're completely overwhelmed by the level of ticket sales, we haven't even released the line-up yet and already all the early birds are gone! The next tier of tickets are priced at £75 and won't be around for too long if this hype continues.

We’ve also been at a couple of other festivals, just making sure that we got a chance to party in some magnificent surroundings and that our own secret party in the woods lived up to everyone else’s… We hope it did but we’ll leave it down to you to judge. Thank you to everyone that made it up to the woods last weekend. It was everything we had wished for and more, it was an incredible feeling seeing everyone enjoying the hard work we had put in over the past 6 or 7 months, we were very nervous that we wouldn’t be able to match last year but the weather was great, the vibe was perfect, the tunes we’re perfectly picked by each and every DJ, and every single person arrived with an open mind and a positive attitude. So, thank you everyone for making Gottwood Pt2 as magical as you did.

We will be back shortly with a full report including an official video, pictures, podcasts and more but in the meantime we will have to get back to taking down fencing and making sure the woods are left as we found them. Alec Function (aka Alec Falconer), 21 started producing in his teenage years and when he arrived at university in Newcastle and he was quick to make the obvious jump to the other side of the decks. Playing at some of the best nights in Newcastle such as Mudlove, Bedbug and Zap! he quickly found a niche for his house/garage sets. Meanwhile, his housemate Sam Crofts was soon to follow and before he knew it, he was booked to fill the gaping hip-hop shaped hole in the Newcastle student nightlife and adopted the moniker PhatSam. Bedroom sets soon had to be taken to the next level for a debut headline at Yagga Yagga, where Alec found a use for his collection of reggae & dub and they fused together a signature sound that has made it hard to see either of them individually since. Jigsaw, 21 year old Jimmy Wallace has enjoyed an incredibly successful last 3 years. He began DJing in his first year of university at Edinburgh after being lent a pair of decks. Since then his career has seen him perform alongside a selection of the worlds biggest artists including warm up sets for Annie Mac, Calvin Harris, Zane Lowe, Mylo, Nero, Benga, Caspa, Chase & Status and Sub Focus to namedrop just a few. Even whilst keeping company with some of the world's most in-demand and respected artists, he more than holds his own wowing crows all across the UK and Europe.

On top of this he holds a monthly residency at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh, which has seen him play alongside the likes of Zinc, Joker, Rusko, Jakwob, DJ Fresh and many more. So yes, it's theme time! No festival would be complete without a theme, especially a festival in the depths of a forest in deepest darkest Wales.

Last year we went with 'Animals' but this year we've decided to let you lot, the Gottwood faithful decide. We've kept it pretty open, but having said that it looks like we've got an out and out favorite all ready, and to be honest we can’t blame you, having said that though… its all still to play for!

The theme will be announced at the end of the month so get voting on the Facebook page and don’t forget to get your friends involved too...

We had a site visit at the start of the month to make sure everything was how we left it, and you’ll be pleased to hear it was, it may of even look a little bit better than before, the weather was perfect, the birds we’re singing and spring was fully underway!

The aim was to map out all the new areas we’re opening up for this year, work on the décor with the fabulous Roshambo and Woodland Ambush design teams, work out the lighting installations and get our heads round the open air Klangsucht stage that's being bought all the way over from Berlin specially for the walled garden…

Interns Required
