Ahead of his appearance at Fridays Gottwood after party, we managed to squeeze an incredible mix and a short interview out of the fast rising, hotly tipped, Charlie Banks…
Hey, my name is Charlie Banks I’m 19 years old and I’m from sunny Bournemouth.
What’s been keeping you busy lately?
Just Producing, Djing and running my night in Bournemouth every Thursday. Things have really started to pick up recently, which has been really exciting for me!
We had you play the festival on the Hypercolour stage this year, then represent Gottwood at Zoo Project Festival and now again at the after party with more dates planned for the future…..How do you feel about becoming a Gottwood resident?!
I’m really happy to be on board, I’ve played and have been to quite a few festivals this summer and can honestly say that Gottwood was without doubt my most enjoyable one. I can’t wait to come and play at the after party and Gottwood 2013!
What did you most enjoy about Gottwood?
The music and the atmosphere. Because of it’s size it feels like everyone seems to know each other and everyone seems to be on the same wavelength.
Which three tracks that sum you up at the moment?
1. No Sympathy – Maya Jane Coles
2. You Can’t Neg Chloe – Freeman & Farrelly
3. Failing Upwards – Huxley
And your top tips for 2012? (Artist & Label)?
A kid called BareSkin who is making some huge tracks at the moment and has just had a release with Hypercolour. I also think wAFF is on the cusp of going huge and think he’s going to be the next big thing. Label wise obviously Hypercolour are doing some big things and also Love Not Money Records from Leeds.
And 5 things you couldn’t do without in the woods?
1. Beer
2. Laughing Gas
3. Jimmy Sharkbait
4. Wellies
5. Earplugs
